2023 Academy Awards

My thoughts on the Oscars Best Picture nominees

This Sunday is the 95th annual Academy Awards, celebrating the best that cinema has to offer. This is obviously a stretch since for most of its history, the voters looked like a jury from Mississippi in the 1950’s. However, I’ve always loved going to the movies so I tune in every year, even after the robbery of Crip Camp for Best Documentary in 2021. The Academy may have redeemed itself last year with Best Picture rightfully going to CODA, but unfortunately, there are no movies about disability for the 2023 show.

I haven’t been to the movies much, since they’re still virus-infected death traps for people like me, so I haven’t seen all the contenders. Don’t worry, I’ve seen some of them and I’m sure I can figure out the rest based on titles and trailers.
